About an hour’s drive from the city of Rovaniemi and Santa Claus Village, you’ll find this spacious, atmospherically decorated holiday home on the family estate of Merja and Jari. The estate is secluded on a beautiful peninsula and dates back to the late 19th century. The current residents have lovingly and respectfully renovated it without losing its original character. The old buildings, some over 150 years old, have been carefully restored. This is a place with history, it has survived no less than four wars! The estate originally was a traditional farm with livestock, grain, and some reindeer. Nowadays, in the company of pure Finnish sheep, cats, chickens, and a rooster, you can enjoy your own piece of wilderness. You can even get married in the carefully restored, atmospheric chapel!
The spacious stone holiday home is located about 100 meters from the owners’ authentic residence, but it offers plenty of privacy as it sits beautifully on a separate part of the estate, by a large lake. Built in 1964, the house has been tastefully renovated and modernized. It comfortably accommodates 6 people.
The atmospheric living room with an electric fireplace is adjacent to the spacious, fully equipped open kitchen. It’s cozy to dine together at the large table. Don’t feel like cooking? For a special experience, you can reserve a private dinner served at the long table in the atmospheric living room of Merja and Jari’s authentic historic residence. With an emphasis on fresh, local products like reindeer meat, lingonberries, and traditional Lappish flatbread, this dinner is not only a culinary experience but a complete ‘experience’ in a historical setting!
The house has three bedrooms, an electric sauna with an adjacent bathroom, and a separate toilet. By the lake, you can light your own fire at the fireplace and roast sausages or marshmallows, or with a bit of luck, marvel at the Northern Lights.
